21 Days of Yoga: Hiatus

Over the weekend I was attacked by a stealth sinus infection, which has stopped me in my tracks. I wasn’t feeling super well on Saturday, but managed to make it through the Day 4 practice. Yesterday and today, however, I’ve felt like my head is in a vice grip and have been intermittently running a fever. I am all about sweating it out, but I think right now I need to listen to my body and rest a bit before picking back up. In any case, it’s hard to focus and really get into a practice when my head feels like it might pop off.

In other news, my Christmas cards have still not gone out, but I was thrilled to find that I can continue to procrastinate on my Christmas shopping until Wednesday and still get guaranteed pre-Christmas delivery with Amazon Prime!

Also, I’m sure everyone has heard that Kim Jong-il died over the weekend. He apparently overexerted himself while looking at things. While the world will (probably? depending on how evil his son is?) be a better place without him, it will also be decidedly less entertaining. Around this time last year, I read Barbara Demick’s excellent Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea, which provides an amazing insight into a country that is notoriously un-transparent. In fact, it was on my Top 5 of 2010 list (of course, the 2011 edition will be out next month).

In the meantime, I’m hoping I’ll be back in asana-ing shape in no time.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks for sharing the hilarious Kim Jong-Il site! I looked through a few pages and though it was hilarious that expression remained mostly consistent – except when looking at cheese, at which point he looked ecstatic!

    • He does seem mostly excited about the food-related things, doesn’t he? I guess it’s fitting for someone who had a 10,000-bottle wine cellar and had lobsters drop-shipped to the locations where his train stopped (while his people ate tree bark to avoid starving). An entertaining (if evil) character, for sure…

Well funny you commented on my latest post, because your 21 day yoga challenge was part of what motivated me to start back up! Consistency is key – but something I may always struggle with. It’s funny how I can consistently make cookies & pasta & cocktails but I have a hard time consistently blogging or jogging…hmmm…maybe something to do with perspective? Keep up the good work (once you’re feeling well) — I’ll be reading!
