21 Days of Yoga: Day 2

First things first: If you haven’t already, I encourage you to check out my first 21 Days of Yoga post to get the full scoop!

Well, it’s better to do something late than not at all, I say. I just finished Day 2 of the 21-Day Challenge, which is supposed to be a 15-minute morning practice. Alas, I stayed up far too late last night perfecting yesterday’s post for my vast and adoring public, so I wasn’t really feeling super motivated to get up extra early. Besides, I tend to hit a sleepy lull in the late afternoon and early evening, so an energizing practice is good any time I find myself fighting the urge to yawn.

The Day 2 practice has lots of gentle movement sequences – forward bends, overhead stretches, downward dog, etc. – that are coordinated with breathing. After yesterday, I’m feeling a bit sore (in a good way!), so this practice was a good follow-up, but still left me feeling kind of “meh,” like I hadn’t accomplished a whole lot. I certainly didn’t break a sweat. I considered following it with a Shiva Rea core workout from Daily Energy, but seeing as how tomorrow (Day 3) is a core practice, I decided to hold off so I can get the most out of that. However, I am sure that had I actually followed the directions and done Day 2 first thing this morning, I would have felt great afterward. We will see next Thursday.

In other yoga-related news, I got these great alo capri pants at the PGA Superstore for $25! I was shopping for cold-weather tennis gear, and figured I can wear these for winter tennis (yay, pocket!) as well as yoga, and on also the infrequent occasions when I go running. I had a $25 gift certificate, so they were basically free! (Nevermind the fact that I got two shirts and a sports bra off the sale rack as well…)

Also, I noticed today that Yoga Journal is starting a new online 21-day challenge on January 9th, which, incidentally, comes a few days after I will have completed this DVD version. Assuming all goes well, I might sign up to do that one as well. Anyone want to join me?

Ready for more? Check out Day 3!
